Location: Cinzetti's

Time: 11:15 AM - 1:00 PM

Presenter Information:

Dana Cline is a Sr. Software Quality Engineer at RSA/Archer.  He has been testing localized applications for over 12 years for companies such as Bell Labs, Lucent, Avaya, Perceptive Software, and now RSA/Archer. He has spoken on this and other subjects at conferences for software engineers, technical writers, and help authors for over 15 years.

Topic Details:

You may have automated tests to exercise your application in your native language, but what happens when the application is expanded to include multiple languages? This session will look at the automation we created to test RSA/Archer, a web application using HTML and Silverlight, available in German, French, Spanish, English, and Japanese. Along the way we will discuss the following potential issues:

·         Extended ANSI versus Unicode character sets
·         Building a translation library
·         How to make sure your text doesn’t over-run your available space
·         How to insure consistency in the translations
·         How to test an application in a language you don’t speak or read
·         Special considerations

This session will help QA Managers and Automation Developers prepare for the eventuality of testing in multiple languages. This information can apply to any automation tool.
