During this presentation we will discuss the importance of Accessibility Testing for end users. We will explain what it means for a website to be accessible versus compliant. The legal and reputational impacts of not meeting accessibility standards. We will cover design, development, and testing considerations and the positive impacts of finding accessibility issues earlier in the lifecycle across the SDLC. We will also speak about the methods and tools we use for Section 508 Compliance and general Accessibility Testing. Lastly, we will also explain our test process, including initial meetings to understand the scope of work, our entry and exit criteria, and test artifacts.
VML implemented an automation framework a couple of years ago that we have continued to evolve. Now, we are upgrading the framework to a more sophisticated system the combines both BDD and TDD testing. Our goal is to overcome some of the limitations we had with original framework and to give more information in the reports to the client. This talk will go over our journey from the old framework to the new and what we've learned along the way. ![]()
Cerner Corporation's new architecture, Orion, is focusing on testing code earlier, more often, with increased coverage. This is done through automation functionality and technically within our code. The goal is to catch critical issues earlier within the release cycle along with cutting down our cycle time.

Think of manually executed test scripts—like pulling a wagon without wheels. Eventually the wagon will make it to the final destination, but the journey itself will be long and painful. Many people think test scripts are outdated because of the long, painful process of writing and running them. Andrea Fox says that their analytics team shared this way of thinking. To make things worse, the team also was dealing with defects being constantly introduced because the restrictive scripts were not catching the issues. Change was vital to provide more efficiency in manual testing, as well as more value. The analytics team decided scenario testing was the answer to the problem. Scenarios provided enough guidance to know what to test but left room on how to achieve the expected result. Join Andrea as she explains the evolution process of their scripted testing, the lessons they learned, the setbacks they faced, and how today’s approach provides her team better testing. ![]()
In today’s “footrace” to deliver high-quality software products, efficiently and ahead of the competition, it is critical for organizations to ensure QA and DevOps are running in tandem. In an era of shorter software product release schedules, organizations adopting the principles of DevOps can realize an important competitive advantage. Simply put, DevOps is a process for close collaboration between developers, QA, product owners and IT operations during the entire product lifecycle to ensure software is released rapidly without compromising on quality. In a high-functioning DevOps culture, QA is one of the pillars because it ensures everyone is responsible for bug-free software throughout the entire process. The “lines” between development and QA are blurred and many responsibilities become shared – and bug prevention becomes even more important than bug detection. When QA and DevOps runs in tandem, it enables continuous integration, delivery and deployment of applications. Learning Objectives: Our talk will help to demystify DevOps, suggestions on how to best align QA, Development and Operations within your organization, and allow you to tap into our expertise on how to release high-quality products quicker to your audience. We’ll tackle the following subjects (and more):

Description: Test data management (TDM) may be simultaneously the most important and most overlooked aspect of an effective QA organization. We all work with data on a daily basis, but the manner in which we do so is a major factor in whether or not we will be efficient, or successful, in assuring quality in our digital properties. This discussion will provide an overview of some of the techniques and tools for TDM, and how it fits within a modern DevOps model.
